The open yard pieces are what we reach for when the water is not involved. Two inflatable football targets and a two-in-one hoop and goal, all of which stand up on grass, deflate into a bag, and do not require a single tent stake unless it is windy.
The football targets come in 63 inch and 48 inch. The larger one is double sided with two scoring holes at different heights, which is the detail that keeps older kids interested — a single hole is a game you win and stop playing. The 48 inch is the travel version, light enough for a park and cheap enough that nobody panics when it ends up in a hedge.
The basketball and soccer unit is built for the small end. The hoop sits at toddler height, the goal is on the opposite face, and the base is a weighted inflatable ring you can fill with water for wind. It is the piece that goes to every first birthday party on our street, and it has survived all of them.
Everything in this group is the same vinyl we use on the water, which is deliberately over-specified for a lawn. Grass is harder on an inflatable than a pool is — sticks, dry stems and the occasional dog — so the thicker material and the welded seams are doing real work here even though nothing is floating.
These are the three things we would take to a barbecue. They set up while the grill is heating, they fold into a bag at dusk, and nothing here needs a flat lawn or a referee. For a mixed-age party the 63 inch target and the toddler hoop cover the whole guest list between them, and the sizing guide explains which one suits your yard rather than which one looks biggest. That is usually the only decision worth making, in our experience.
