A two person river tube with the riders facing each other and room for a cooler between them. It is the most sociable thing in the catalog — you can hold a conversation without shouting across the water, which is the actual reason people buy a double rather than two singles.
Built to the same heavy duty standard as our single tube: thick vinyl, double-welded seams, two sealed-apart mesh floors so a puncture in one side does not sink the whole thing, and pad eyes on both ends for tying into a group. Two backrests are inflated separately, so each rider can set their own angle.
It is the largest tube we make and the only one where we would insist on an electric pump — there is a lot of air in it and a hand pump will take a while. Good on a lake, better on a slow river, and by far the best thing here for an afternoon that is mostly about company rather than swimming.
Who it is for: two people who actually want to talk. A pair of singles drift apart; this one does not, and that changes the experience of a slow river from parallel solitude into a conversation. It is also the easiest way to take a child onto moving water with an adult within arm reach the whole time.
It is the bulkiest thing in the range when inflated and one of the smallest when it is not, so the only real rule is to dry both floors before folding. Clip two of these together and you have a floating party for six. If you are new to tubes, read the depth guide before you pick a put-in — the tube is rarely the limiting factor, the river is.
